Meet Katie Flores
Katie is a prolific and passionate painter who has been described as a “color prodigy”. Born in 1994, she happens to have autism.
For many years she struggled with the intensity and vibrancy of life. In 2017, talented and supportive San Diego artist Elizabeth Wepsic, uncovered Katie's passion. As soon as Katie picked up the brush and felt the resistance of paint under her hand, painting became a powerful mode of expression.
With the help of supportive mentors Katie has continued to develop her innate desire to paint in bold colors and tones. The artistic bond Katie has with her mentors exemplifies inclusion. When people of different abilities pursue a shared passion, they both grow and the world becomes a better place.
Through Katie’s aesthetic exploration she has also unveiled a deep desire to paint what she loves; animals and junk food! Her artistic style continues to evolve, and her vibrantly fun pop art is sure to make you crave more… it’s addictive!
Katie is also a resident artist at “Revision” under the tutelage of Joy Boe and Hanna Gundrum, in addition to “Able ARTS Work”, San Diego.
